What is this class about?
Overarching questions to guide the class:
What does leadership mean?
What makes a good leader?
Why is it important that you know how to be a leader?
End Goals:
Each student will find something that they are passionate about and want to help make change for.
Each student will determine what their leadership style is as well as their strengths and weaknesses as a leader.
Each student will learn to work in a team to accomplish a big goal.
Partner with the community to work towards something.
Explore the leadership challenges associated with complex social issues
Identify and analyze the strengths and limitations of your current leadership style
Develop an appreciation for leadership styles different from your own
Strengthen your public speaking skills
Refine your listening and problem-solving skills
Expand your ability to work in diverse groups
Apply the Social Change Model of Leadership Development
Develop an Action Plan project that you can bring home to your school or community
