Cinematography: The art of making film. This includes purposeful positioning/framing, camera angles, lighting, movement, sound, and choice of setting to create a mood or beautifully composed shot.
Rules:
- Consider the mood of the film and plan your LIGHTING, MUSIC, and SETTING to match the mood.
- ALWAYS use the rule of thirds in EVERY SHOT!
- ALWAYS scout and plan your setting! It should be interesting. No white backgrounds or overhead lighting.
- Use natural lighting if possible. Get near a window or natural light source. Sunrise and sunset give the BEST lighting.
- Use multiple camera angles (at least 6 or more).
- Use camera movement in at least half of your shots: Panning, Tilting, Truck, and Dolly. Use wheelchairs, skateboards, or rolling chairs if you have to!
